Joshua Avery has been an Academic Advisor in the College of Education since 2004. As a student, Josh completed both, his undergraduate degree in History with a Concentration in Secondary Social Studies and a Masters of Arts degree in Liberal Studies here at UNC Charlotte.
His advising experience ranges from working with newly admitted undergraduate students to recommending graduate candidates for admission to teacher licensure programs. Currently, he advises students interested in the Graduate Certificate in Teaching program, alternative licensure candidates, and those considering steps towards the Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program. His longevity within the college makes him an instrumental resource for students and staff across campus when questions about graduate programs arise.
Along with being an presenter on "Recruiting and Producing Effective Teachers" at the NACADA Regional Conference, Josh has also lead presentations on "Diversity in Education" for Future 49ers Teach Day and within the College of Education's Learning Community.
Josh enjoys sporting events and spending time with his family. His passions include working with youth in civic services and helping develop long-term initiatives that promote positive influences in urban communities.
